Better Angels

In my ongoing graitude to everyone who reads here, may I echo today's beautiful and true words from the magnificent brainhell:

the support group has brought out everyone's better angels. and if it is true, as my friend visiting from hawaii said, that many people love me, then it is just a reflection of the basic human impulse to GIVE ... to anyone halfway decent who is in need.

Thanks so much to all of you. As horrible as the news seems day after day, know that the world is still filled with goodness.

I just made my first donation to you and I feel better than I thought. Your blog has been a constant inspiration to many, including me! It has been very refreshing to know what there are still good real people like you out there in the world.

We must take care of each other in times of need. I hope you are doing well today and continue to do so so many years to come.

It's sort of amazing how kind people can be if you just give them an opportunity.

I work with small children and I've always been amazed at their capacity for love and empathy to almost total strangers.

When I teach other teachers I always say, "Be a human. Tell them you are having a bad day. Their reaction to your sadness may be just the thing to help chase it away."

And I am grateful to you for introducing me to brainhell. You are both amazing people. Wishing you nothing but the best.

I'm just glad to see that in your times of not-despair, there are moments when you feel like you CAN let people in and help you, that not everyone is self-aggrandizing in their efforts and desires to help, and that there can be such a thing as a larger community trying to gather around you and help you through it. I don't even know you really, but I'm quite fond of you!

Liz,

please help me out. Paypal is being uncooperative in the extreme; are you willing to send me a mailing address by e-mail; you can get that through blogger, right? Or perhaps Finn has it from the "red shoes" days, or some method of which I know nothing: whatever.

If I were King of the Forest, I'd put the simplest of text links to my (your) Amazon store on my blog so that those of us who're gonna buy stupid crap anyway could buy it from Lymphopo and you could get the royalties.

Maybe.

(God, please don't yell at me.)

Hey Liz, completely off-topic but I saw your comment over at IBTP that you're into movies with young strong female heroines right now, and I thought I'd recommend some of my favourite books to you if you haven't read them yet. The His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman is so fantastic - it's a fantasy series with an 11 year old girl protagonist fighting against patriarchy and the Church. Thought you might like them.
